5 Powerful Wi-Fi Tips & Tricks: See Passwords, Control Users, Parental Control & Boost Speed

So, do you also want to know someone’s Wi-Fi password? 🤔 Or have you recently installed Wi-Fi at home and your kids are misusing it, and you want to control their internet usage? Maybe you’ve shared your Wi-Fi with relatives or neighbors and now want full control over who uses it and how much.

Don’t worry at all. In this guide, I’m going to share 5 very useful Wi-Fi tips, tricks,  that will help you manage your Wi-Fi like a pro. These tips work for home Wi-Fi, office Wi-Fi, and even shared networks.

1. How to View the Wi-Fi Password on Your Phone

If you’re already connected to a Wi-Fi network—whether it’s your office Wi-Fi, a neighbor’s network, or a shop’s Wi-Fi—you can easily see the saved password on your phone.

On most Android phones:

  • Go to Settings → Wi-Fi
  • Tap on the connected Wi-Fi network
  • Click on the Share icon (or three-dot menu)

You’ll see a QR code. On some phones, the Wi-Fi password is shown directly below the QR code. If your phone doesn’t show the password:

  • Take a screenshot of the QR code
  • Open Google Lens
  • Scan the QR code

Google Lens will instantly show the complete Wi-Fi details, including:

  • Network name (SSID)
  • Security type
  • Wi-Fi password

Tip: If you’re using a dual-band router (2.4GHz + 5GHz), the password may appear twice. Single-band routers show it only once.

2. Default Router Admin Passwords (Hidden Truth)

Many people protect their router by setting an admin password, but most router companies still keep default login credentials.

For example, when you open your router admin page (like Tenda, TP-Link, etc.) by typing the IP address (usually 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1), it asks for login details.

Try these common default passwords:

  • Password (P capital, d small)
  • admin (A capital)
  • admin (all lowercase)

In many routers, one of these works instantly. That’s why it’s important to change your admin password later—because if you can access it, others can too.

3. See Who Is Using Your Wi-Fi & Block Them

Now the real question—if you’re checking others’ Wi-Fi, others can also check yours. 😅

Once you’re inside the router admin panel:

  • Go to Internet Status / Connected Devices
  • You’ll see how many users are online
  • All connected devices will be listed

You can easily identify unknown devices. If you see a suspicious phone or laptop:

  • Click on that device
  • Select Blacklist / Block

That device will instantly lose Wi-Fi access. Simple and powerful!

4. Parental Control: Stop Kids’ Internet Misuse

Today, having Wi-Fi at home is normal—but kids often misuse it the most. Parents worry about what their children watch late at night and how much time they spend online.

The good news? You can control everything directly from your router.

Inside the admin panel:

  • Open Parental Control
  • Select your child’s device
  • Click the pencil/edit icon

Now you can:

  • Set a daily schedule (Wi-Fi allowed only at specific times)
  • Choose specific days or every day
  • Add blocked website keywords

If your child tries to open a blocked website, the network will simply deny access—like saying, “Your dad said no.” 😄

5. Bandwidth Control: Get Full Speed for Yourself

This is a very big issue. The more devices connected to your Wi-Fi, the more your internet speed gets divided.

You pay the bill, but others enjoy full speed—while you suffer buffering. That hurts! 😤

To fix this:

  • Go to Admin Panel → Advanced Settings
  • Open Bandwidth Control

Here you’ll see:

  • Upload limit
  • Download limit
  • All connected devices

You can:

  • Give yourself Unlimited speed
  • Limit others to 1 Mbps, 2 Mbps, or 10 Mbps

Save the settings, and that’s it. Others will only get the speed you allow, while you enjoy smooth browsing, streaming, and downloads.
